Heat sink (radiator) knowledge encyclopedia


The heat sink is a device used for heat dissipation. Its main function is to transfer the heat generated by the electronic device to the heat dissipation area and accelerate the heat loss to keep the temperature of the device within a safe range. The application range of heat sink is very wide, common in computer CPU, graphics card, car engine and other high temperature equipment.
According to different materials and structures, heat sinks can be divided into two main types: air-cooled and water-cooled. Air-cooled heat sinks, commonly found in personal computers, dissipate heat into the air through a fan. The water-cooled heat sink conducts heat into the water through the water cooling system, and then discharges the hot water through the water pump, which is suitable for high-performance computers and automobile engines.
In terms of working principle, the heat sink uses thermally conductive materials and large-area fins to quickly conduct heat to the heat dissipation area, and then help heat dissipation through a fan or water cooling system. Efficient heat sink design can effectively improve the stability and performance of the equipment.
